THE ROLE

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and innovatively minded Learning Technologist to work with the Dean of Academic studies and other colleagues in the development of UA92’s digital learning environment (DLE). You will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and an innovative approach to delivering learning. The Learning Technologist will have the skills and confidence to provide an effective service to both staff and student users and possess the creativity to solve problems relating to the DLE and various other learning technologies.

Acting as a role model practitioner and a specialist within UA92’s Digital Learning Environment, you will lead the development and delivery of a game changing learning infrastructure – supporting colleagues to optimise their use of digital and virtual technologies and associated pedagogies.

You will help to ensure that our students have a sector leading learning experience with a strong trajectory into employment and early career advancement.

You will join a small, agile and forward-looking academic and professional service team and will work collegiately with colleagues across the institution, and with employer partners to embed the principles, philosophy and values of UA92.

The post-holder will:

  • Work with staff and students to ensure effective training in the use of the DLE and related systems

  • Mentor tutors to enhance their pedagogy through the use of appropriate technology, both in the classroom and outside

  • Be a champion of innovative pedagogy to ensure UA92 is at the forefront of teaching excellence

  • Work with the academic and professional teams to continuously develop the DLE to ensure fit for purpose to support both online and classroom based learning

  • Monitor and administer the DLE to ensure standards and ease of access

  • Provide advice and technical support for the development and maintenance of the DLE and other technologies to support learning

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You will be a highly effective and creative thinker with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.  You will also have a passion for providing accessible, high-quality, university level education across multiple platforms - be an innovator in your own practice; a strong team player and collaborator, with the tenacity to solve problems and seek continuous improvement opportunities.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience of technology enhanced learning with the ability to engage learners actively through the delivery of outstanding student centric learning experiences.

  • A penchant for working with a wide range of stakeholders across various functions (preferably industry, professional and academic).

  • An innovative spirit and confidence to develop and apply new techniques and technologies to improve learner success.

  • Experience of using Microsoft 365 and Teams with the ability to adapt to new and prototype technology systems.

  • Experience of quality assurance and enhancement in a learning context.
